A gold colored stature was in the front of the car. The idol had a childish appearance and a bulged belly. It looked like laughing at the passenger. Traveling at the medium speed of about 30 miles per hour the taxi driver seemed to be extra careful.
Apparently curious, the passenger asks “What’s that idol about?” Although he already knew what it was, he tried to test the driver.
Waiting a while thinking the taxi driver said “It’s a symbol of peace.”
The passenger feeling the urge inside him to explain, – “Really? I think its related to Buddhism. Are you a Buddhist?”
“No I’m not.” A long pause came in between.
He continues – “When i see the idol of whatever religion it belongs to as you said, i feel a sense of peace in my heart. There are people who pray to their gods daily. Sometimes even twice thrice… They earn a lot of money… But they don’t have peace in their inside. Deep inside they are always burdened and and depressed. I feel that burden get away from me as i see it laughing. It’s for my peace of heart, and nothing else.”
The conversation ended with silence. The passenger got his lesson and didn’t question further. Sometimes simple things to be felt with heart were more important than the bulk knowledge.
